CRIME DOES NOT PAY "'Wild Bill' Hickok"

We presented one tale about Wild Bill Hickok HERE...

...but this is a radically-different, more-accurate version of the Real-Life Westerner!

Hickok's not the infalable goody-goody shown in several different comic book series including one based on the 1950s tv show starring Guy Madison.
All of them downplayed the less-heroic aspects of the man in favor of an idealized, somewhat-sanitized version.
This tale from Crime Does Not Pay #22 (1942), written and drawn by Bob Wood pulled no punches.

WILD BILL HICKOK "Payoff in Lead"

Another Real-Life Westerner takes center stage...

From 1952's Blazing Six Guns #1. Illustrated by Howard Larsen, who illustrated almost all of Wild Bill's stories in his own comic!

Wild Bill Hickok had several different comic book series including one based on the tv show starring Guy Madison.  This tale is not from that series.
